Murrays Nurseries supply high quality radiata pine seedlings to large scale forest owners throughout the North and South Island of New Zealand. The seedlings are grown and harvested on demand to exact specifications.
 

We have placed great importance on modernising the business and keeping up with the latest technology. The nursery is at the forefront of innovation and development, designing and developing our own equipment to automate the business.

 

We have developed a seed sowing machine with GPS for greater accuracy. This can ensure positioning of seed down to 20mm accuracy so lines can be repeated from one year to the next. This allows for the automation of other processes such as root pruning, topping and spraying, which has resulted in increased accuracy and productivity as well as a better end product for clients. And now with the establishment of Energize Technology Limited on site, Patrick Murrays innovative concepts are coming to fruition and well underway.

​The focus on technology has attracted the interest of crown research institute SCION that specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry, wood product, wood-derived materials, and other biomaterial sectors. SCION has visited Murrays Nurseries to learn more about how we have been successfully using technologies in our business gaining an overview of how our current research & development can be made available to the wider industries in New Zealand.
